To love is to live. This is how Morrie chose to live his life.
This is an everyday mantra used in my life forever thanks to
Morrie. This man has impacted some lives and taught many
mass. None, greater than mine. We have been married for
forty years right off and we are a team. The day we found out
Morrie had ALS, was desensitize to say the least. The questions
that ran through my head were natural. Why us? How pull up stakes we
manage? How much time? However, Morries answer for
this was, Am I going to withdraw from the world like most
raft do or am I going to live. I decide to live. Now, with
this renewed life we have all grapple to learn from him again,
a teacher to the last. This would bring us into the residuum of
Morries life.

When we came to terms with this being his last year, his
favorite numbers by W.H. Auden, came to mind and our
approach was simple. Love each different or perish.
This says that love is the essence of every somebody
and that to live without it, as Auden says, is to live with
nothing. This is how Morrie taught me to love deeper.

In this last year, many people having been spending
a great deal of time with him and every person has left with
a greater purpose, a greater perceptivity and a greater passion for
life.



I was not in the same place as everyone. I had to search
my soul for the acceptance of losing my husband. I needed
clarity and insight, but then I perceive him say, Learn how to
die and you learn how to live. This was a surprise for me.
Here, I was worried about how to care for him, how to go to
work, how will my children coping? However, Morrie was
learning how to die. I realized that Morrie needed spiritual
security and ever-living love. No matter what I did or did not do,
his expiration was coming. This brought me into acceptance.

Morrie has not only been preparing himself for his
good-bye, he is preparing us. Death will fall out and I have been shown the best
