Dramatic Irony: is the effect produced in a play when the constituents actions do not fit the situation being developed. This effect is the result of the characters ignorance of the full situation.
A SOLILOQUY: a tongue made by a character alone on stage, is social functiond to express a characters thoughts aloud. Its prominent purposes are to reveal the character of the speaker, to advance the plot, to comment on other characters and to create suspense OR atmosphere.


Act II, exposure ii


1. Explain the dramatic purposes of Romeos soliloquy (lines 1-25).
