Character Development

It is in reality sad that the narrator is so demented that his life revolves corpulent plotting to kill an innocent old man who has done him no wrong other than possessing a pale blue eye which is probably a result of his frailness and age. In a slight way, his human side is revealed when he tries to convince us how he had never been kinder to the old man than during the whole hebdomad before.

It is like he actually thought slightly his actions before doing the evil deed, like he had a conscience. He even put himself in the old mans shoes and imagined him trying to convince himself that what he had heard was aught solely the wind in the chimney or a mouse crossing the floor.
