Dorothea Lange was well known for her pictures that portray the Great first gear era. Langes word-paintinggraphs lead to her employment with FSA or Farm protective covering Administration, which was a program to help defeat poverty in the rural atomic number 18as. The photo I chose is called Migrant M separate, one of her nearly known photographs. It was taken in Nipomo, California during the year 1930. The argument fanny Langes photographs was to show stack of the United States how other people were suffering and what they were going through just to survive.
The photograph is a black and white photo that shows a obtain and her two children sitting to sufferher. Although you cannot go steady what is going on behind and close to them you can assume that there are others who are struggling with poverty too. In the photograph you can see that their clothes and their skin are dirty and that the expression on the mothers face shows worry. The family in this photo resembles much of what the people affected by poverty during the first gear looked like all around the country. Many people had to find alternate ways to get food, like hunt or find food from touch areas.



Lange describes how this mother and her children survived by eating animals hunted by the children and by eating vegetables from fields around them. Another way people ate during the depression was to sell their personal items for coin so they could pay for necessities. The mother in this picture had to sell the tires strike her car in order to earn some money to feed her children.
There are many elements in this photo that help portray the smack of the family shown. The lack of color in the picture is one way to portray a feeling of sadness. When someone thinks of sadness it is usually paired with the color of greys, blacks and whites.
