ethics in the workplace is an issue is getting much more attention lately. When I think of ethics, Enron and Bernie Madoff come to mind. These examples ar onenesss that make us all think about what went wrong. We execute to think that these people live with something wrong with them, and we ar in disbelief that this could get. The very question is, not how could this happen, but how could this happen for so long without anyone saying anything? It would be of interest to cope the Williams Institute Ethics Awareness Inventory to the people convoluted in these scandals to see how they score. According to this inventory, people fall into diametrical ethical spots and styles. These factors can all be influenced by culture, religion, and fifty-fifty by a persons maturity.
The Williams Institute Ethics Awareness Inventory self treasurement is a real eye opener for me. The results of the assessment show that my ethical perspective is based on obligation to do what is morally right. This is most related to the deontological theory which says, In contemporary moral philosophy, deontology is one of those kinds of normative theories regarding which choices are morally required, forbidden, or permitted.
In opposite words, deontology falls within the domain of moral theories that take up and assess our choices of what we ought to do (deontic theories), in contrast to (aretaic [virtue] theories) that â€" fundamentally, at least â€" guide and assess what kind of person (in terms of character traits) we are and should be. (Alexander & Moore, 2008). After some reflection, I can see that this is a fair assessment of my beliefs. I do look at what the intent of the action is and not necessarily the outcome to position if it is ethical.
